friend

friday, 06 february 2009 mieke

i bought these earrings in portland because the word 'friend' popped out of the lovely dewdrop magnified text. here in new york, where stable, down-to-earth friendships are tough to maintain, mieke has been my neighborhood yoga buddy, brunch companion, sous chef, co-party thrower, ear for gossipping, supplier of all things delicious and belgian, artistic supporter and sharer of an occaisional bottle of wine. in exchange, i found her a husband. and i will never give up those bragging rights.

these images should be enlarged for detailed viewing by clicking on them.

  • first: isolated earring
  • second: portrait
  • third: glass
  • fourth: focus on earring

I like the fourth shot because it captures your intent. But I think it needs cropping. Let me know if you would like for me to send you and basic rendering.

I like the fourth shot, it is such a wistful yet peaceful expression. Love the soft focus on her beautiful face.

Thanks Kitty! It was so fun to hang out with you that night! Not sure if I can vote here but I do also like nr4 and the first one with just the earring. But that maybe isn't totally in line with your assignment?
Lots of fun last night too!!! Miss Greenpoint/Brooklyn!!

wow, i totally wasn't expecting you guys to back me up (as evidenced by the placement as fourth). august--i'd be happy to see your crop. such a sweet offer makes me miss those 'humming' days of digital darkroom!
glad you guys are digging the assignment.

I went with the fourth because it captures the earring but lets us get a solid (fuzzy) glimpse of her face. It's beautiful -- like a painting.
